Thanksgiving on the Trail

Thanksgiving on the Trail is the most delicious trail food recipe. It’s the dinner I always looked forward to on the PCT and Long Trail. It involves all the things Thanksgiving should include except for maybe mulled wine. My stomach is growling just thinking about it…

Thanksgiving-on-the-trail and Lawson’s Sip of Sunshine!

1 package Idahoan Mashed potatoes (Any flavor will do. I’m partial to Garlic)
1/4 cup instant milk powder (Nido or Fat Free are both great)
1/2 cup instant stuffing (my fave is Stovetop)
1/4 cup craisins
1/4 cup Walnuts or pecans
1/3 cup Honeyville freeze dried sausage or turkey


At Home: Combine all ingredients into 1 quart sized or 2 pint sized ziplock freezer bags.
On Trail: Bring 2 1/2-3 cups water to a boil. Remove pot from heat. Pour boiling water into ziplock bag and stir and shake until ingredients are mixed thoroughly and hydrated. Let sit for several minutes before eating
